Serj Tankian, a singer, poet, songwriter, visual artist, activist, and composer, has always used music and art as a way to express his thoughts and emotions with passion and awareness that few can match. Born Armenian in Lebanon and rooted in Los Angeles, Serj was exposed to different cultures, ideas, and values from a young age. The lessons from this blending of influences have shaped his understanding of the interconnectedness of all things and have been transformed into the art he passionately creates. As the lead singer and songwriter for System Of A Down, Serj has released five studio albums, won a Grammy Award in 2006 for "B.Y.O.B," and sold over 40 million albums worldwide.
