Scott Ian (born Scott Ian Rosenfeld, December 31, 1963, in Queens, New York) is the rhythm guitarist, co-founder, and primary songwriter of Anthrax. Known for his tight, percussive downpicking style and influence from hardcore punk, he helped define the thrash metal genre alongside Metallica, Slayer, and Megadeth (the “Big Four”). Beyond Anthrax, Ian has been involved in crossover projects like Stormtroopers of Death (S.O.D.) and has made appearances in media, including TV and spoken word tours.
