YS, RH, JL-19, JL-20, TB JL-22). Showing light, age-appropriate paper toning, these original production drawings serve as a premier centerpiece for Beatles collectors, animation art archivists, and film historians.Notes from the Consignor: Two (2) consecutive original studio production animation drawings from the Beatles' 1968 classic film, Yellow Submarine (United Artists). Each measuring 11 x 14 inches. The consecutive drawings shown John Lennon staring back through a doorway. Each drawing is on an original animation work sheet - with alignment holes on the bottom edge designed to hold each sheet perfectly in place to ensure a smooth transition between each sequential frame. The animator's notes regarding the scene and frame identifiers are also shown along the bottom. Consecutive animation production drawings like this are extremely rare - especially given how few of such production drawings survive through the decades. And here we have two of them from one of the most critically acclaimed and groundbreaking animation films of its time.
NOTES:
It is almost impossible to find even one original production drawing still in existence from this classic animated feature film, Yellow Submarine. To have two of them from consecutive frames from the same scene is almost unheard of. And yet, here we have them - an image of John Lennon looking back through a doorway - hand-drawn by one of the King Features studio animators in 1967 during the early stages of the film production. I was fortunate enough to acquire a small group of these consecutive production drawings over 20 years ago from Tracks UK, one of the most respected dealers in rare Beatles-related artifacts in the world.
