Signed Franklin Library Deluxe First Edition: Hand-Signed by Tom Wolfe (The Bonfire of the Vanities)
This entry showcases an authentic, primary-source piece of 20th-century American literary history, New Journalism lore, and fine press leather-bound publishing ephemera: an official Deluxe Signed First Edition of The Bonfire of the Vanities, hand-signed on an internal publisher limitation page by best-selling author Tom Wolfe.
A pioneer of New Journalism and one of the most razor-sharp satirists of modern American society, Tom Wolfe (1931–2018) achieved monumental fiction success with his debut novel in 1987. Set against the backdrop of 1980s New York City, The Bonfire of the Vanities follows the meteoric fall of Wall Street bond trader Sherman McCoy amidst a storm of racial tension, political ambition, and media sensationalism. The quintessential "decade-defining" novel became a massive cultural phenomenon, a #1 New York Times bestseller, and a landmark cinematic release.
Published in 1987 by The Franklin Library as part of their prestigious Signed First Editions series, this volume is luxuriously bound in premium deep burgundy genuine leather with ornate 22k gold-stamped architectural perspective rules, raised spine hubs, all-edge gilding, silk moiré endpapers, and a bound-in satin ribbon page marker.
Preserved in factory-sealed condition, the volume remains completely enclosed within its original publisher shipping carton wrapper and protective shrinkwrap:
