As the founder, principal songwriter, guitarist, and producer of Boston, MIT-trained engineer Tom Scholz engineered a revolutionary multi-track rock sound that defined late-1970s and 1980s radio. After Boston’s self-titled 1976 debut became one of the best-selling debut albums in music history, Scholz spent six years meticulously producing Third Stage in his home studio. The album launched to the top of the charts, reaching #1 on the Billboard 200 and generating massive hit singles like "Amanda"—which became Boston’s first #1 Billboard Hot 100 single—alongside radio staples "We're Ready" and "Cool the Engines".
