Autographed Hardcover Book: Hand-Signed by Norman Rockwell (The Norman Rockwell Storybook)
This entry showcases an authentic, primary-source piece of 20th-century American art history, Saturday Evening Post illustration lore, and signed publishing ephemera: an original hardcover printing of The Norman Rockwell Storybook, hand-signed on an internal preliminary page by world-renowned artist and illustrator Norman Rockwell.
An iconic chronicler of American life, Norman Rockwell (1894–1978) captured the spirit, humor, and heart of 20th-century Americana through his legendary cover illustrations for The Saturday Evening Post, Look magazine, and the Boy Scouts of America. Published in 1948 by Windmill Books / Simon & Schuster, The Norman Rockwell Storybook pairs Rockwell's beloved full-color paintings with original story text written by acclaimed children's author Jan Wahl. Featuring quintessential scenes of rural boyhood, train-watching, and lazy summer fishing trips, the work stands as a quintessential celebration of classic American youth.
On an internal preliminary flyleaf, Norman Rockwell has rendered a classic, vintage signature inscription in dark ink:
"sincerely / Norman / Rockwell"
Preserved in good vintage condition, the volume displays its original colorful dust jacket with a glued publisher gold foil shield sticker reading "SIMON & SCHUSTER EDITION", showing minor age-appropriate wear and light taping to the spine edges. The internal text block remains clean, tight, and well-preserved.
This hand-signed illustration collection serves as an essential centerpiece for Norman Rockwell completists, American art archivists, and vintage children's literature displays.
