Inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1994, The Band reshaped popular music in the late 1960s and 1970s. Originally serving as Ronnie Hawkins's backing group (The Hawks) and later supporting Bob Dylan on his historic 1966 electric tour, the quintet defined the Americana genre with seminal albums like Music from Big Pink (1968) and The Band (1969).
