This entry showcases an authentic, primary-source piece of Hollywood history, Academy Award–winning cinema lore, and fine leather-bound book collector ephemera: an official Easton Press Signed First Edition copy of Life Beyond Measure: Letters to My Great-Granddaughter, hand-signed on a dedicated preliminary leaf by legendary actor, director, and humanitarian Sidney Poitier.
A trailblazing cultural icon, Sir Sidney Poitier (1927–2022) broke barrier after barrier in cinema, becoming the first Black actor to win the Academy Award for Best Actor for Lilies of the Field in 1964. Renowned for landmark film roles including To Sir, with Love, In the Heat of the Night, and Guess Who's Coming to Dinner, Poitier received the Presidential Medal of Freedom in 2009. In Life Beyond Measure, he frames wisdom, personal philosophy, and reflections on race, faith, and courage through intimate letters addressed to his great-granddaughter.
