Edie Brickell, known for her unique vocal style and folk-rock blend, rose to fame with the New Bohemians. Shooting Rubberbands at the Stars (1988) includes the hit single "What I Am," a defining song of late 1980s alternative rock. Brickell later married Paul Simon, who produced the album.
