Notes from the Consignor: Legendary comedienne Phyllis Diller was a frequent guest of Johnny Carson’s Tonight Show – appearing a total of 49 times over the years. So it made sense that Phyllis was asked (and agreed) to appear on a planned A&E Biography documentary on Johnny Carson. In this personal letter – typed and signed on Carson’s own personal stationary (nicely embossed with the legend’s name) – Carson thanks Diller for her willingness to appear on the now-cancelled special. A nice example of a correspondence between two television legends.
