An EGOT winner, Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee, and one of the best-selling music artists of all time, Sir Elton John transformed 1970s popular music with his virtuosic piano playing, memorable melodies, and flamboyant stage persona. Released in May 1972, Honky Château served as John's career-defining breakthrough record, becoming his first album to reach #1 on the U.S. Billboard 200 chart and initiating an unprecedented streak of seven consecutive #1 U.S. albums. Recorded at the Château d'Hérouville near Paris, France, the album features timeless classics including "Rocket Man (I Think It's Going to Be a Long, Long Time)" and "Honky Cat."
The 12" vinyl album release features the iconic sepia-toned cover photograph by Ed Caraeff, framed within a classic tan border beneath the arched album title logo ("HONKY CHÂTEAU / ELTON JOHN").
