Autographed Vinyl LP Album Jacket: Hand-Signed by Bernie Taupin (Captain Fantastic and the Brown Dirt Cowboy)
This entry showcases an authentic, primary-source piece of classic rock music history, glam rock lore, and landmark 1970s vinyl ephemera: an official vinyl LP album jacket for Captain Fantastic and the Brown Dirt Cowboy, hand-signed on the front cover by legendary Oscar and Grammy Award-winning lyricist Bernie Taupin.
Inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1992 and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2023, Bernie Taupin stands as one of the most prolific and celebrated lyricists in modern music history. As the creative half of one of pop music's greatest songwriting partnerships, Taupin penned the timeless lyrics for Elton John's vast catalog of hits, including Rocket Man, Tiny Dancer, Your Song, Goodbye Yellow Brick Road, and Candle in the Wind. A conceptual triumph, Captain Fantastic and the Brown Dirt Cowboy (1975) served as an autobiographical narrative tracking Taupin ("The Brown Dirt Cowboy") and John ("Captain Fantastic") during their early songwriting struggles in London.
Featuring the legendary, surrealist cover art created by artist Alan Aldridge, this 12" vinyl album jacket depicts Captain Fantastic and the Brown Dirt Cowboy amidst a whimsical, fantastical landscape.
Across the lower-center section of the front cover art, Bernie Taupin has rendered a bold autograph in black felt-tip marker:
"Bernie Taupin"
The signature is boldly applied over the piano and fishbowl design elements, exhibiting high-contrast line definition against the colorful artwork.
Accompanied by an official Basic Certification card issued by James Spence Authentication (JSA) (Certification Number: CL89236), featuring a matching tamper-evident authentication label affixed to the top right corner of the reverse cover.
Preserved in fine condition with sharp corners, clean edges, unblemished vinyl grooves, and a prominent signature, this signed album jacket serves as an essential centerpiece for classic rock archivists, songwriting historians, and Bernie Taupin displays.
