About The Authors

DAVID BEREIT is national director of 40 Days for Life. Since launching 40 Days for Life, he has spoken extensively across the United States and around the world, inspiring audiences as large as seventy thousand people. His work has been prominently featured in the media, including coverage on CNN, ABC, NBC, CBS, Fox News, HBO, hundreds of radio programs, and over one hundred news-papers across the country, including The New York Times, The Washington Post, Los Angeles Times, and USA Today. David has received many prestigious awards, including the Henry Hyde Life Leadership Award, the Students for Life of America Defender of Life Award, and the Walk for Life West Coast St. Gianna Molla Award for Pro-Life Heroism. David is a graduate of Texas A&M University with a degree in biomedical science. He is married to his best friend Margaret, and they reside in Virginia with their two children.

SHAWN CARNEY is campaign director of 40 Days for Life. Starting in college as a volunteer for a local pro-life organization, Coalition for Life, Shawn became its director and then helped launch 40 Days for Life. He is one of the youngest and most sought after pro-life speakers in America, and regularly addresses audiences coast-to-coast and internationally. Shawn’s work has been featured in hundreds of media stories including Fox News Channel’s The O’Reilly Factor, The Laura Ingra-ham Show, Drudge Report, and Focus on the Family, and has produced and hosted award-winning documentaries for the Eternal Word Television Network (EWTN). Shawn graduated from Texas A&M University, having studied history and philoso-phy, and is currently working on a master’s degree in theology from Franciscan University of Steubenville. He lives in Virginia with his wife, Marilisa, and their four children.

    This book is a look into the results of the campaign that went nationwide in 2007, and now is international. The stories of babies given a chance to live and parents given hope for providing for their children are miraculous. God definitely has a hand in this work, and is calling us to join Him in saving this culture from death.

    "40 DAYS FOR LIFE DISCOVER WHAT GOD HAS DONE...IMAGINE WHAT HE CAN DO" aptly describes the amazing stories of lives saved from death and destruction--as well as lives transformed by joining God in what He is doing. It's exciting to see God answering our prayers so powerfully and in ways we simply could not have imagined.

    40 Days for Life is nearly impossible to read only one day at a time! It's serious, humorous and real all at the same time. The Scripture throughout the book is very well utilized. It gives hope to ending the tragedy of abortion one humble prayer at a time.

    I have tried to read this book, one chapter per day, during 40 days of Lent, but found it hard to put it down. I am amazed at so many moving stories of faithful, courageous, heroic, generous people involved in the fight against the evil of abortion.
